Saved from an untimely end but not out of the woods, B finds imprisonment and pain the only foreseeable future. When loved ones from the past resurface--some in decent condition, some not so much--death becomes both a threat and a tease, too close at the wrong time for the wrong people, but just out of reach when it's craved the most. Faced with nightmare upon nightmare as health and safety become extinct, it's up to B to give up, give in, or give it all they've got.
Honestly, this is my favorite volume of the ZOM-B chronicles yet. There were parts that were downright disturbing, from the disregard and degradation of humans (alive or dead...or undead) to the repulsive cruelties the deranged Dan-Dan subjects small children to, this book takes darkness and runs with it throughout the whole of the work. In fact, I think that's something woven throughout the series that this book does a top notch job of emulating; the most wicked deeds aren't necessarily the work of paranormal baddies--humans can be nothing short of monsters.
Heartbreak, fury, heartbreak, fury, lather, rinse, repeat, this book had amazing scenes and perfect dialogue that kept me charged throughout, and, when it called back to things that seemed a little sketchy in previous books? Oh, it leaves you eager to see exactly what is afoot in the coming tomes....

Teenager puts down his Ipod for Darren Shan!!

My almost 15 year old son has devoured this series. He loves Darren Shan books; every one of them is 'great' according to him. Thank you, Darren Shan..for getting my son to put down his IPod and actually pick up a book. Write more, write more!!! I highly recommend this series. My teenager loves them.

Great for teens who like horror but dont think they like to read

My teenage son continues to read Darren Shan even though technically he is probably too old for this series. These are great books for any young person who likes horror and thinks they don't like to read. All Shan's series were devoured by my son through his middle school and high school years.
