Prior knowledge of the series is assumed, so some situations and jokes will be lost on new readers, but enough is explained to keep the story moving. Decent spinoff, but please don't read this one first!

So before I start, let me just say that if you're planning to read this one BEFORE Alice in the Country of Hearts, Vol. 1, don't. You'll be confused. This story is not a sequel but a spinoff, so it starts a little after the beginning of Alice in the country of hearts and offers a brief recap. To fully understand the story, you must read the original first!
The premise of this story is kind of, "What if Alice stayed at the Hatter's mansion instead of the Clock Tower?" and as you might have guessed, it revolves around her having some romantic interest in the March Hare. Seeing as how these stories are based on a video game about dating, I believe the author was intending to write this spinoff in a way to make it feel like a "choose your own adventure story" where you choose to read more about the March Hare.
So now that I've explained that, on to the actual book review!
Comparing the story to the first one, this one is a lot less immersive. You don't get to meet all of the characters, or explore all of Wonderland like in the first one. This book assumes you've read the first one so I guess that's why they glossed over it. Boris won't be found in this book, or the Clockmaker. Nothing about any of the other characters or Wonderland itself will be revealed in much depth, this book is mostly about Alice and Elliot, and the other characters only seem to act as plot devices for their story.
My biggest criticism of the book is that many of the other characters act, well, out of character. This story was written by a different author, so the story's feel is different. Alice almost seems like a different person to me, she's a lot less cute but I can still identify with her. The other's (Excluding Elliot) are almost like cookie-cutter versions of themselves, since they're only in the story to drive the plot. I was hoping for something more in depth like the original story, but I can still enjoy this book despite all of that.
The high points are the beautiful artwork and story itself, which is an inventive idea to give the original story more depth. I would recommend this book to fans of the original book who loved Elliot and want to read more about him. He really is adorable in this story! =D

If you're a fan of Elliot March or are just a big fan of Alice in the Country of Hearts in general, this manga is for you! :D We didn't really get to see a lot of interction between Alice and Elliot in the main manga, but in this spin off, that's a whole different story. The art is a little different than most of the Alice mangas but is pretty easy to get used to.
Definitely recommend getting both volumes of: "Alice in the Country of Hearts: My Fanatic Rabbit".

Contains Episodes 1 - 7: This series seems interesting and allows the reader to get to know Elliot March the March Hare better. I really enjoyed learning more about Elliot's personality in this volume and am looking forward to seeing what happens next.
